Robert Chalkley

MSW, RSW

Robert received his Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and has several years of experience supporting youth and adults in a variety of mental health settings. Robert has supported clients who were navigating homelessness, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and autism. Robert also works at the Sunnybrook Intensive Services OCD program where he supports both individual clients struggling with severe OCD as well as their loved ones in family sessions.

Robert is skilled in therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and providing Exposure and Response Prevention. Robert works from a strength-based approach and fosters a non-judgemental and collaborative therapeutic environment. By exploring the lived experience and values of his clients, he forms unique and individualized approaches that support them in reaching their own therapeutic goals.

Robert’s focus at FTPS is to support individuals who are challenged with OCD in their daily lives. Robert has worked with clients impacted by a variety of OCD obsessions and compulsions such as intrusive harm & sexual thoughts, contamination, perfectionism and “just right” feelings. Through a combination of cognitive therapy and exposure work, Robert aims to empower his clients to gain the confidence, motivation, and independence towards their journey of reaching their treatment goals and becoming their own therapist.  He also recognizes that OCD can impact our loved ones and family life. Robert works with families and loved ones to provide psychoeducation about OCD and provide tools and strategies to address accommodation and other family concerns.

Robert’s interests are seeing live music, growing his cactus collection, board games, and playing outdoor sports like spikeball.
