Robyn’s doctoral research focuses on client outcomes in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She joins Forward Thinking Psychological Services at the end of her doctoral degree to complete her residency program.
Robyn has a special interest in working with individuals experiencing obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, intrusive thoughts, existential issues, mood-related issues, substance use, life transitions, and intimate relationship issues. Her theoretical orientation is grounded in evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
Robyn has worked with individuals with different themes of OCD, including illness thoughts, sexual-related thoughts, harm-related thoughts, uncertainty, checking rituals, as well as feelings of “just rightness”, orderliness, symmetry and perfectionism.
For over a decade, Robyn has worked with diverse groups of clients to address various forms of anxiety and mood issues in private practice, clinics (DBT Vancouver), and community/hospital outpatient settings (SickKids Community Mental Health in Toronto and St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver). Outside of direct clinical practice, she has taught family therapy and provided clinical supervision to clinicians and graduate/medical students, and served as an Adjunct Lecturer with the University of Toronto’s Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. At present, she is a facilitator at the SickKids CCMH Learning Institute, providing training to clinicians on working with adolescents using DBT. In addition, she has experience providing psychodiagnostic, psychoeducational, and integrative assessments for a variety of concerns, including OCD, GAD, OCPD, ADHD, PTSD, and mood and anxiety disorders.
As an assessor and a clinician, Robyn cares deeply about the work she does with her clients, both in the process and in the outcomes. She strives to facilitate a way forward for clients with hope and clarity.
